REBOUNDING

_MG_6527web

“Jump up, Jump up and get down”…

There is nothing like waking up in the morning to a good stretch and a little bounce on the rebounder!! What a fabulous way to start your day.  I’ve heard that rebounding burns more calories than jogging.  Some health benefits for Trampoline bouncing can strengthen your heart, improve your circulation, revitalize vision, reduce stress, benefit children with learning disabilities and cystic fibrosis and most of all stimulate and improve the flow in your lymphatic system.  Your lymphatic system rids the body of toxins, dead cells, cancer cells,  bacteria, infectious viruses, foreign substances and heavy metals.  So go out and buy one today and start jump’N.

Another great way to improve and stimulate your lymphatic system is getting a Lymphatic Drainage Massage.

My mother told me when I was little if I swallowed the seeds from a watermelon I would have a melon grow inside my belly.  Well…I totally believed her.  One of my many nicknames as a child was Melon Belly.  I loved watermelon and could never get enough of it!  Yummy…my mouth is watering just thinking about it!  I use to almost eat the whole melon…or at least till my stomach would balloon out.

Here is one of my favorite summer salads:

Helping Hand

About a month ago I got a phone call from a friend Stacey Fulcher – Event and Sales Manager from the Boiler House Restaurant.   Stacey and some of the hard working staff from the restaurant, volunteered their time at a fundraising event for the CNIB camp on Lake Joseph in Muskoka. The Boiler House’s Director of Operations - Jason Rosso and Executive Chef – Eric Pless donated all the food and wine for the event. They needed a helping hand and thought of me. I bartended for the night and had a blast working with friends, meeting some very interesting people and listened to amazingly talented musicians.  I also got a chance to promote my Dockside Spa business and I ended up booking up the next week with some local cottagers.   A few of the amazing people that I was delighted to meet that night were Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara.  They were both very lovely in person…Oh how they make me laugh!!

Margarita Foot Scrub

It’s the perfect treatment for your tired sore feet!

The treatment starts with a reviving sweet smelling sea salt foot scrub and ends with a  massage of a customized blend of pure plant essence moisturizer. This treatment helps to get rid of dead skin cells and release tension in the body by focusing on pressure points in the feet which promotes circulation, relaxation and healing.  Your feet will shine and feel alive!

Being an Aromatherapist I really love creating and working with pure essential oils and making new blends and products.

This summer I’ve been traveling around to cottages promoting my new homemade Sea Salt scrub.  I’m calling it the Muskoka Margarita Glow. It smells so yummy everyone who smells it wants to drink it! So here is the recipe…

Margarita scrub recipe:

1 cup Almond oil

1 cup Sea Salt

10-15 Drops Lime Essential Oil

Lime Essential Oil: Uplifting properties.  It is rejuvenating and refreshing.  It’s aroma inspires energy, clarity of the mind and feelings of renewal.  It can be used for chronic fatigue.  Use midday to help improve concentration.  Some other properties are antiviral, and anti-bacterial which make it excellent for treating cold and flu symptoms.  It is also commonly used in aromatherapy as a digestive and appetite stimulant.  Great in soaps, lotions, massage oils, diffusers (I use it in my car), bath oils, towel scenting, light rings, laundry, facial steams, hair treatments, and more

Safety note:  Never apply lime oil neat on the skin without diluting it first.

I LOVE buying fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables! I especially enjoy shopping and buying from local farmers markets.   There is something so wonderful and stress free about shopping for your groceries outside in a park and breathing in fresh air.   Nobody around you is in a rush and you can take a shopping break, sit under a tree and dig into your delicious produce…it beats shopping in a stale cold shopping mall.

Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto has a fun Farmers Market that supports local and urban sustainable agriculture. This market features organic fresh and local fruits and vegetables from Ontario farms.  It’s on Every Tuesday from 3:00-7:00pm rain or shine and located at 1053 Dundas Street West (Shaw st & Dundas st)

In the best selling book The Four Agreements don Miguel Ruiz gives four principles to practice in order to create love and happiness in your life. As you practice living these four practices your life will dramatically change.

The Four Agreements  are:

1. Be Impeccable with your Work

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.
